Welcome to the Vivekananda Rural Development Society (VRDS), a non-political, non-profit-making, and secular civil society organization committed to empowering women, children, and marginalized communities. Since our inception in 1997, we have been a driving force for social change, working to uplift underserved communities in rural Telangana.
What We Do
At VRDS,
we focus on creating meaningful change through a range of programs aimed at the development and empowerment of women, children, and rural communities. Our core areas of work include:
- Women Empowerment: Skill development, legal aid, and health awareness to empower women and enhance their socio-economic status.
- Child Development: Ensuring access to education, healthcare, and child rights awareness to secure a brighter future for the next generation.
- Health & Well-being: Providing medical services, sanitation, and health education to improve overall community health.
- Human Rights & Advocacy: Promoting legal awareness, protection of rights, and fighting against exploitation and discrimination.
- Sustainable Livelihoods: Enabling economic independence through microfinance, agriculture development, and vocational training.

Women Empowerment

Promoting sanitation and hygiene practices to prevent disease and promote health, particularly in rural areas.

Mr. R. Srinivas Rao – President
As the president of VRDS, Mr. R. Srinivas Rao has played a pivotal role in establishing the organization and steering its growth since its inception in 1997. With a strong passion for rural development, especially in areas like women’s empowerment and child welfare, Mr. Rao brings a wealth of experience and vision. His leadership ensures that VRDS remains rooted in its mission to uplift communities and foster socio-economic development.
Mrs. K. Lakshmi – Executive Director
Mrs. Lakshmi has been a driving force behind the strategic direction and program development at VRDS. With over 15 years of experience in non-profit management, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at education, health, and women’s empowerment. Her ability to manage complex projects and build strong partnerships has significantly contributed to the organization’s success in reaching rural populations.
Dr. S. Madhavi – Program Coordinator, Health & Well-being
Dr. Madhavi leads our health and wellness programs, ensuring that underserved communities receive adequate medical care and health education. With a background in public health and experience working in rural healthcare settings, Dr. Madhavi designs and implements health camps, awareness programs, and hygiene initiatives that improve the well-being of women and children.
